BITS AND PIECES THE ZOMBIE ANTHOLOGY SURVIVAL COOKBOOK
Are you a writer with a great idea for a zombie story? My next writing project is an anthology book that includes stories of a zombie apocalypse but with a twist. In the event of a real zombie apocalypse survivors would have precious little to eat and almost no variety in food stuffs. I want you to get creative and imagine all the non-perishable food stuffs like Spam, Pork and Beans, Tuna, Sardines, etc and come up with not only edible recipe's that you could eat, but some that might even be delicious. All submissions will be reviewed by my publisher Genesis
Creations Entertainment and chosen based on creativity and story appeal.
Story Parameters:
In submitting your zombie short story you need to remember the following.
1. Keep the story exciting but somewhat short. Your zombie short story should take place in a post apocalyptic atmosphere, but please feel free to be creative. Please keep it ZOMBIE oriented. Don't go off on a tangent about ghosts and goblins and dragons.... remember this is a zombie anthology.
2. As the story length is not limited per say, have fun but keep it a short story. I am not interested in 100 plus pages of zombie novel. Try to keep your story about 10 to 20 pages max.
3. The story does NOT have to have anything to do with your recipe. You can throw in the recipe at the end of your story or you can incorporate it as part of the story. EG: if you have your character in your story eat a certain post apocalyptic meal, you can have your recipe at the end of the story give us a play by play account of how to make the meal your character ate.
4. When you do include your recipe, keep it simple. Think as if you actually scrounged this stuff up from an abandon grocery store in your post apocalyptic world and you're cooking the entire thing over an open fire in the middle of a field somewhere.
5. Ingredients need to be non perishable as if you could actually find them and eat them after they have been sitting in an abandon shop for months. Remember anything canned, boxed, (like some pasta dishes are), or in bottles or jars, it would still be edible after months. Things like spices never really go bad so you can make use of those as well.
6. Your story as well as your recipe should create a certain mood for your readers, so keep this in mind and don't forget this is HORROR so don't be shy with the blood guts and gore.
7. Keep your audience of zombie fans in mind when you write. So make your story good and remember the recipe is realy only a novelty. People may or may not ever try to actually make them. Or maybe in the event of an actual zombie plague the recipes in this book may become very valuable.
8. A personal friend of mine who is a food critique and has her own gourmet website told me she actually had some recipe's for brains (not human of course). It could be fun to throw in a few recipes for our zombie friends as well. You know... the survivors who didn't make it. So if you have an idea for that throw it in. Who knows... if there are enough we might even create a section in the book for zombie recipes.
THANKS I look forward to reading each and every entry.
Cheers
